PANTHER BATS STAY HOT TO SWEEP MILLSAPS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Panthers kept the offensive momentum going in the series finale against Millsaps as they won 10-6 and swept the Majors to improve to 18-5 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

The scoring in the game happened early and often as nine of the 16 total runs were scored in the first three innings. Millsaps got on the board first as they scratched across a single run in the first, second and third innings. BSC got their bats going in the second inning plating five runs and taking an early 5-2 lead. After two of the first three hitters were retired, the Panthers hit five straight singles to plate five runs. An error by the Millsaps right fielder proved costly as it allowed two unearned runs to score.

After the five run inning Birmingham-Southern scored at least one run in the next four innings. An Ian Hancock homerun in the third gave the Panthers a 6-3 lead. They followed that up with a two-run fourth inning and scored a single run in the fifth and sixth to take a 10-5 lead after six innings.

Joey White threw six innings of four run baseball with five strikeouts and picking up his third win of the season. The Panther bullpen combined for three innings pitched, allowing one runs, and striking out two to help BSC secure their 18th victory of the season.
