BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern baseball team split their two midweek games this week. They beat in-state rival Huntingdon College 7-3 on Tuesday, March 29 before falling to UAB in the inaugural Rickwood College Classic 10-4.
Game one
Birmingham-Southern came from behind to defeat their in-state rival Huntingdon, scoring six of their seven runs in the final four innings to win 7-4.
BSC fell behind in the bottom of the first inning after starting pitcher
Carter Tyus gave up a lone run in the inning. After the first inning Tyus settled in and pitched three more innings, all being scoreless. He finished pitching four innings, allowing just one run, giving up three hits, and striking out two.
BSC tied the game up in the second after a Cam McNearney homerun got the Panthers on the board. Huntingdon retook the lead in the fifth after a BSC error. Birmingham-Southern quickly responded adding three runs in the top of the sixth inning to retake the lead 4-2.
After retaking the lead the Panthers never looked back and scored a run in the eighth and two in the ninth to ultimately take the game 7-3.

Game two
Birmingham-Southern fell in the inaugural Rickwood College Classic played at historic Rickwood field to Division I opponent UAB 10-4.
UAB got up early and never looked back as they scored seven of their 10 runs in the first three innings. UAB scored five runs on four hits to open up the game in the bottom of the first inning. Both teams scratched across a run in the second. BSC go theirs from an RBI double by

Neither team scored in the fourth, fifth or sixth innings. UAB extended their lead in the seventh to take an 8-1 lead after seven innings. BSC got the bats going in the final two innings pushing across three runs over the two innings. A
Noah Best single drove in
Andrew Dutton to push across a Panther run. They added two runs in the ninth on a
Brian Williams homerun and a
Cole Steadman single to bring the score to 10-4. They could not push across anymore runs and fell 10-4.
