BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Once again the Birmingham-Southern softball team got down to business quick in a doubleheader against Rhodes. BSC run ruled game one 10-1 after five innings, and took game two 6-3.
Game one
Rhodes was the first on the board in the top of the first, taking the early lead. A triple to left field by
Alyssa Fowler scored
Izzy Berkopec to tie it up.
Alyssa Fowler scored on a sacrifice fly from
Kaylyn Chapman that put BSC on top in the bottom of the second.
The Panthers extended their lead in the bottom of the third inning, scoring eight runs on five hits.
Morgan McGuire drew a based load walk that scored
Lauren Cabiness and pushed Birmingham-Southern's lead to 5-1.
Kailey Walters finished it off for the Panthers with a two-run home run, extending the lead to 10-1. BSC did not allow any hits or runs from Rhodes after the second inning. Their defensive efforts allowed them to end in a run rule after five innings, taking the game 10-1.

Game two
Birmingham-Southern would take the early lead in the first inning with
Kaylyn Chapman scoring on a throw, as
Kailey Walters stole second. The Panthers held strong defensively, not allowing Rhodes to have any hits until the third inning. BSC put up four more runs in the bottom of the second, thanks to singles from
Kailey Walters and
Leah Wood.
Rhodes was able to get on the board and scored two in the top of the third. Both teams held their ground defensively until the Lynx put up another run in the top of the sixth.
Lauren Cabiness returned the favor for BSC with a double that scored
Leah Wood. The Panthers were able to hold off Rhodes from scoring anymore and ended the game at 6-3.
