PANTHERS SPLIT WITH VALIANTS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham-Southern split the day with Manhattanville, taking the first game 6-2 and falling to the Valiants 6-4 in the second. 

Game one
Birmingham-Southern started it off in the bottom of the second with Leah Wood hitting a homerun to left field, scoring Sam Hilyer to put the Panthers up 2-0. Hailee Bryan singled to second base and advanced to third on a single from Alyssa Fowler, putting herself in scoring position. Bryan scored on a wild pitch from Charli Shinstine, adding another run for BSC.

Manhattanville was able to put up one run in the top of the fourth, while Birmingham-Southern added two more in the bottom of the sixth with a series of bunts. Manhattanville added one more run in the top of the seventh and the Panthers ended it 6-2.

Game two
Manhattanville took the early lead over the Panthers, putting up four runs in the first inning. BSC looked to come back with a sacrifice fly from Kailey Walters that scored Morgan McGuire. A two-run homerun from Jada Askew cut the Valiants lead and put the Panthers down by one at 4-3. 

Moving into the bottom of the second, the Panthers tied it up at 4-4 when Izzy Berkopec homered to left field. The score stayed tied until the top of the fourth when the Valiants added two more runs, eventually taking the game 6-4 over the Panthers.
