PANTHERS MOVE TO 18 GAME WIN STREAK

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern softball team put up 8 runs on 13 hits in their final game against Hendrix, to sweep the series and advance to an 18 game win streak. Hailee Bryan had 8 strikeouts on the day, making a combined 13 strikeouts on the weekend for her.

Hailee Bryan got things rolling for the Panthers, striking out the first batter of the game and the last of the inning in the top of the first. The top of the second brought a 1-2-3 inning for Bryan with another strikeout. The bottom of the second was a big inning for Birmingham-Southern with 5 runs on 4 hits. Cassidy Dickson brought in the first run with  a single to right field that scored Sam Hilyer. Morgan McGuire followed that with another single to bring in Kaylyn Chapman. Dickson went on to score on an error by the catcher, to make it 3-0 in favor of the Panthers. Another error from the catcher brought in the fourth run for the Panthers, Morgan McGuire. An error filled inning for the Warriors put Kailey Walters on base and allowed Alyssa Fowler to score the final run of the inning, finishing it 5-0. 

Bryan was not letting up the momentum as she struck out two of the three batters she faced in the top of the third. Birmingham-Southern put up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI triple from Kailey Walters that scored Alyssa Fowler. Jada Askew was the next to drive in a run with a double to right center, putting BSC up 7-0 at the end of the fourth. Hailee Bryan kept the defense strong with two strikeouts in the top of the fifth to keep the Panthers hope for a run-rule alive. Cassidy Dickson ended the game for the Panthers with an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to finish the game in a walk-off run-rule victory 8-0.
