BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern baseball team split their opening day series with Hendrix. Birmingham-Southern won the first game after a six run eighth inning propelled them to a 11-4 victory. They fell in game two 6-4.
Game one
Birmingham-Southern got out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after
Noah Best reached on a fielders choice that brought in
Andrew Dutton. The very next play Best stole second and on the throw down
Brian Williams came in to score giving the Panthers a 2-0 after one inning. Both teams pushed across a run in the second inning, before they were held scoreless in the third.
Hendrix pulled within one run in the fourth after a ground out to third base brought in the second run of the game for the Warriors. The Warriors then took the lead in the top of the sixth after scratching two runs across in the inning on hits. BSC responded right back with two of their own to regain the lead. A
Cole Steadman single brought in the first run, and
Ian Hancock singled right after to bring in the go-ahead run.
BSC busted the game open in the bottom of the eighth inning, bringing across six runs to take an 11-4 lead. BSC scored six runs on seven hits with six of the hits being singles.
Davis Williams closed the game down in the ninth to secure the Panthers 20th victory of the season.

Game two
The second game started the same was as the first with BSC taking an early 2-0 lead after the first inning.
Cole Steadman drove in the first run of the game on a sac fly to center field.
Noah Best then singled up the middle to bring in the second run. Hendrix responded back in the top of the second with two runs of their own and tied the game 2-2.
Birmingham-Southern retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after
Andrew Dutton was hit by a pitch to bring in a run. Again, Hendrix responded with a run of their own to tie the game back up.
After the Panthers went down quietly in the bottom half of the fifth inning, Hendrix took their first lead of the game after pushing across three runs to take a 6-3 lead. The Panthers tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh to either win or extend the game but could only push one run across.
