Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

PANTHERS BESTED BY THE BLAZERS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team put in a valiant effort but were unable to keep up with a shot hungry Belhaven squad.

From the fist kick, the Panthers were on the ropes with the Blazers trying to strike as early as possible. Sophomore goalkeeper Mary Claire Henry was able to keep them from netting a goal until the 20th minute.

The Panthers responded some solid ball movement to get within scoring range but could not connect. This led to the Blazers stealing the momentum with another goal as well as a penalty kick goal off of an incidental handball.

The second half gave hope for a comeback with the Panthers continuing to move the ball well and into scoring position. This gave way to several shots on goal, but a solid performance from the opposing keeper prevented any scoring.

The back-and-forth of possessions continued throughout the half with neither team gaining an advantage. However, the match ended with the Blazers scoring a final goal from the rebound of a saved shot.
