ROME, Ga. - Birmingham-Southern volleyball was hoping to advance to four wins to start off their conference run, but sadly fell to rival Berry.
Kennedy Dickens,
Gigi Fields and
Kylie Wilhelmi all led the team with 6 kills.
Set one started off with the Panthers falling behind early at 10-2.
Gigi Fields got a kill to add another point on for BSC, but it was met by three more points for the Vikings. With Berry in the lead at 17-5,
Kennedy Dickens put in two kills along with some errors from the Vikings to make it 20-8. The first set ended with Berry taking it 25-11.
Birmingham-Southern came out a little stronger in set two with even play at 8-7. Berry pushed on to take the lead 13-7, two errors from the Vikings made it 14-9.
Alyssa Coats got a kill, hoping to keep the Panthers in the game, but the Vikings were able to take the next 8 out of 12 points to win the set 25-14.
Set three mirrored set one with Berry taking an early lead over Birmingham-Southern. Unable to take a lead in set three, the Panthers fell short of a victory with the Vikings taking the third straight set to win the match.
