BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Coming off a tie against in-state rival Huntingdon College, the Panther women's soccer team dominated from start to finish against Blue Mountain College. From the opening kick BSC was ready to go and came out with a 6-1 victory over the Toppers.
Early in the game BSC had a couple of chances to score but, two got called back for offsides and one was a shot on goal that was saved. The Panthers finally broke through in the tenth minute of the game.
Abby Walker found the back of the net for her first goal of the season, the goal was assisted by
Angie Piccini.
Walker did not stop there as she netted two more goals, with one coming just a minute after her first and gave the Panthers a big 3-0 lead early in the game. After the third
Abby Walker goal in the 23rd minute, Blue Mountain was able to sneak one past goalkeeper
Mary Claire Henry to cut the Panther lead to 3-1.
Birmingham-Southern kept the pressure up and proceeded to score one more goal before halftime.
Ansley Hicks extended the Panther lead to 4-1 in the 36th minute to give the Panthers a three goal lead headed into halftime.
Out of halftime it was more of the same for BSC.
Sophie Smith netted two goals in the period to keep the Panthers on top.
Mary Claire Henry and
Hannah Moss combined for a second half shutout. The Panthers would walk away with a 6-1 victory.
