SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team dropped a pivotal conference game against The University of the South on Friday, Jan. 27. After leading at halftime the Panthers were unable to hold the lead to the final buzzer.
Coming into the night the Panthers and Tigers were separated by one game. After leading by one at halftime the Panthers could not hang on to the lead as the game wound down. Sewanee was able to come up with key stops and scores when they needed and ultimately defeated the Panthers ??-??
Kaleb Green led the Panthers in scoring after dropping 16-points, while also recording one rebound and one assist. Nolan Dean recorded a career-high 14 points in loss, while also grabbing five rebounds. Marstise Jackson and Bryson Bishop also scored in double-figures recording 11 and 10 points respectively.
Sewanee was propelled to victory by Russ Mar who recorded his 11th 20-plus point performance after scoring 29 in the win over BSC. Luka Avaliani also scored in double-figures after recording 15 points while grabbing two rebounds and four assists.
What it means
The Panthers will not move in the rankings as they stay in fourth place after the loss. BSC is still in position to host the first round of the SAA Conference Tournament.
