SECOND HALF SURGE LEADS PANTHERS TO VICTORY

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team took a slim lead into halftime, but a big second half propelled them to a double-digit victory. BSC swept the season series against the Colonels, and now have won the past five matchups. 

The Panthers took a two-point lead to halftime but outscored the Colonels by 12 in the second half to earn a much needed bounce-back victory. The Panthers exploded as soon as the clock started in the second half going on a 14-3 run. BSC led by as much as 20 at one point and never gave up their double-digit lead once they attained it. 

Josh Childers led the charge for the Panthers recording his second double-double of the season scoring 13 points, grabbing 10 boards, and recording three blocks. Jay Gillispie recorded his 13th double-figure game of the season after dropping 13 points, he grabbed three rebounds and added three assists to his line. Kaleb green rounded out the double-figure scorers with a 12-point performance. 

The Panthers allowed just one Colonel to score in double figures in the game. Marshall Taylor scored 10 points and added five steal and two blocks on the defensive end in the loss. 

What it means
The Panthers climb up a spot and are now tied for third in the SAA standings and in place to host the first round of the SAA Conference Tournament. The Panthers are tied with Rhodes and are two games out of second place Sewanee.

The Panthers will enter the final stretch of their four game road trip as they take on Oglethorpe on Friday, Feb. 3. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. central time.
