ATLANTA - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball earned a dominating 32-point victory over Oglethorpe University tonight, Feb. 3. The Panthers led from the opening tip and never gave up the lead.
Panthers jumped out to a quick lead and never let the Stormy Petrels get their offense in rhythm as they controlled the tempo and energy for the majority of the game. Two Panthers scored in double-figures with Jay Gillispie recording his sixth double-double of the season.
Kaleb Green led all scorers with 17 points, two of which came on a break away dunk that help set the tone for the game. Green added six rebounds to his stat line as well. Jay Gillispe was the other Panther to score in double-figures recording in his 13-point, 14-rebound performance.
The Stormy Petrels were led by Jordan James who scored a team-high 17 points and adding two rebounds and two assists. Jonathan Awoleye recorded 11 points to round out the Petrels double-figure scorers in the loss.
What it means
BSC remains tied with Rhodes at 6-4 in conference play and still in great position to host the quarterfinal round of the SAA conference tournament.
