JACKSON, Ms. - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team lost by a score of 69-84.
On Sunday, the men's basketball team traveled to Jackson, Mississippi to face their first conference opponent in Millsaps. The first half saw a scoring fest with 90 total points and 10 three pointers made. The highest lead in the first half was a 16 point margin after a Drew Roth 3-pointer. Birmingham-Southern ended the half on a 9-3 run cutting the lead down to 10 points at 40-50. BSC was led by 13 points from Body Davis with the big man making two, 3-point shots in the first five minutes.
In the second half, the scoring slowed down a little with just four field goals made in the first seven minutes.
Brody Davis totaled his second double-double of the season shooting 10-16 from the field with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Another double-double from Jay Gillispe would not be enough to comeback as Millsaps capitalized 24 points off of 19 BSC turnovers. The Majors spread the lead out to 17 points just before the end of the game to secure the 69-84 win. The Panthers will look to bounce back against the Majors in their next conference game on January 2nd.
