BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team opened up the season with a dominating 19-2 victory over the Piedmont Lions. Three Panthers recorded hat tricks, with five total Panthers earning a multi-goal game.
How it happened
- The Panthers would lead 6-0 after the first quarter of play with the six goals coming from six different goal scorers.
- The Panthers outscored Piedmont 4-0 in the second quarter to take a 10-0 lead into halftime. Reid Harrison recorded two goals in the quarter to complete his hat trick.
- Birmingham-Southern again scored six goals in a period doing so in the third quarter. During the third quarter Cameron Herd and Austin Johnson each recorded their hat trick.
- After scoring two more goals, the Lions got on the board with just under six minutes to play. They would score again to make it an 18-2 game.
- Austin Johnson scored his fourth goal of the game and capped off the scoring for the Panthers as they defeated Piedmont 19-2 in their season opener.

- With his three goal, three assist performance Cameron Herd now ranks eighth all-time in program history with 128 points, 10th in goals, and fifth in assists.
- BSC improved to 9-1 all-time against Piedmont.
- This is Austin Johnson's eighth career game scoring four or more goals as a Panther.
- Birmingham-Southern out shot Piedmont 51-25.
- Will Johns won 16-of-21 faceoffs.
