DEMOREST, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team opened up the season with a 17-5 loss to Piedmont University.
Margot Peters recorded a hat trick, while
Hannah Leon recorded her first two collegiate goals.
How it happened
- Piedmont scored their first of seven first quarter goals 30 seconds into the game and took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter.
- Piedmont would add two more goals within the first six minutes of the second quarter before BSC changed goalies.
- Grace Lee Paden did not allow a goal for the rest of the second quarter after subbing into the net.
- The Lions would score first in the third quarter before Birmingham-Southern got on the board with an unassisted goal by Hannah Leon.
- Birmingham-Southern and Piedmont would trade goals for the remainder of the third quarter with the Lions holding a 12-4 edge headed into quarter four.
- The Lions would outscore the Panthers 5-1 in the fourth quarter to cap off their victory.
