BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN IMPROVES TO 3-0 WITH BIG WIN

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - In the first ever meeting between the Panthers and the Titans, it was the Panthers that came away victorious. BSC did not score a goal in the third quarter but kept calm and came out with a 10-goal victory. 

How it happened
  • The Panthers scored the first six goals of the game with the goals coming from five different goal scorers. Kyle Winter was the lone Panther to record multiple goals over the stretch. 
  • Illinois Wesleyan tried to inch back after scoring a pair of gaols to cut the Panther lead to 6-2. 
  • Birmingham-Southern responded with five unanswered goals to take an 11-2 lead. The Titans got one back before halftime and BSC would take an 11-3 lead to halftime. 
  • The Titans kept BSC scoreless in the third quarter outscoring the Panthers 3-0 in the period. IWU cut the lead to 11-6.
  • The fourth quarter was all BSC as they put the hammer down outscoring the Titans 6-1 and winning the game 17-7.

Game notes
  • This was the first ever matchup between the two institutions.
  • Two Panthers recorded three or more goals, Cameron Herd (4), and Raymond Fracchia (3).
  • Will Johns picked up nine ground balls tying him for ninth in a single-game. 
  • BSC has outshoot each of their opponents in their first three games.
  • Nathan Pepe recorded 19 saves in the win, ranking fifth in program history for saves in a single-game.
