BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team advanced to the semifinal round after defeating Hendrix 94-67 in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Athletic Association Conference Tournament.
The Panthers got out to a quick lead and controlled the game for most of the first half. Hendrix fought back to tie the game midway through the first half. After the under-eight media timeout BSC came out and went on a 17-2 run and closed the half going up by 14. The Panthers took complete control in the second half and won the game by 27 points.
Four Panthers scored in double-figures in the game with
Cam Glover leading the way with 22. This was Glover's first 20-plus point game since Dec. 3.
Martise Jackson and
Jay Gillispie each scored 15 points in the win over the Warriors. Gillispie added another double-double after grabbing 10 boards. Jackson recorded four rebounds, three assists and three steals in his 27 minutes of action.
Josh Childers put up 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field.
Daniel Cobb was the leading scorer for the Warriors with a 22-point performance. He was one of three Warriors to score in double figures. Brandon Weaver scored 11 and Jack Savario recorded 10 in the loss.
