PANTHERS ADVANCE TO SEMIFINAL ROUND

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team advanced to the semifinal round after defeating Hendrix 94-67 in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Athletic Association Conference Tournament. 

The Panthers got out to a quick lead and controlled the game for most of the first half. Hendrix fought back to tie the game midway through the first half. After the under-eight media timeout BSC came out and went on a 17-2 run and closed the half going up by 14. The Panthers took complete control in the second half and won the game by 27 points. 

Four Panthers scored in double-figures in the game with Cam Glover leading the way with 22. This was Glover's first 20-plus point game since Dec. 3. Martise Jackson and Jay Gillispie each scored 15 points in the win over the Warriors. Gillispie added another double-double after grabbing 10 boards. Jackson recorded four rebounds, three assists and three steals in his 27 minutes of action. Josh Childers put up 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field. 

Daniel Cobb was the leading scorer for the Warriors with a 22-point performance. He was one of three Warriors to score in double figures. Brandon Weaver scored 11 and Jack Savario recorded 10 in the loss.

The Panthers will take on the top seed in the tournament, the Berry Vikings. The semifinal game will be played at Berry at 3 p.m. eastern time.
