BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern softball team completed their first conference sweep of the season, all games being completed in run-rule fashion. The Panthers beat Sewanee 8-0 in their final game of the series.
Birmingham-Southern was first on the board in the bottom of the first, taking the early lead with five runs on four hits.
Izzy Berkopec singled to score
Emma Jolley for the first run for the Panthers. A double to left field from
Alyssa Fowler scored Berkopec and
Katie Hart. BSC ended the first inning with a 5-0 lead over the Tigers, after a triple to right center from
Margaret Axelson brought in Fowler for the final run of the inning. The Panthers put up one run in the second and added their final two in the bottom of the fourth, to make it 8-0.
Margaret Axelson earned the win for the Panthers after going in to face the fourth batter in the first inning. She allowed no hits, no runs, struck out six and walked three batters.
