GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team defeated Southwestern University 15-7 on Saturday after a strong second half performance. After the Pirates tied the game at seven late in the third quarter, the Panthers scored eight unanswered goals to win the non-conference matchup in dominant fashion.
How it happened
- BSC's Austin Johnson opened the scoring, but Southwestern replied with two goals to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.
- After conceding the first goal of the second quarter, the Panthers outscored the Pirates 4-1 to regain the lead 5-4 heading into halftime.
- BSC came out firing in the second half with two quick goals, but Southwestern scored three unanswered goals to tie the game 7-7 with 4:22 to go.
- The remainder of the game would be all BSC as they dominated with three goals in less than two minutes to take a 10-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Panthers continued their goal scoring and stout defense by winning the fourth period 5-0 and closed the game out with a 15-7 victory.
