BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team had a strong fourth quarter in the non-conference matchup against Southern Virginia, but it was ultimately too little too late as the Panthers were defeated 8-6.
How it happened
- BSC's Cameron Herd opened the scoring after just under 5 minutes of play, but SVU replied with a goal to tie the game at 1.
- After out-shooting the Knights 13-5 in the first quarter, the Panthers couldn't find the back of the net to break the tie.
- The tie was finally broken by SVU early in the second period, and the Knights went on to take a 4-2 lead into halftime.
- BSC's Austin Johnson scored early in the third quarter to cut the lead to 1, but SVU then scored 4 unanswered goals to take a 5-goal lead into the final period.
- The Panthers had a dominant fourth quarter outscoring the Knights 3-0 on 16 shots to 3, but there wasn't time left on the clock as SVU took the win 8-6.
