Sewanee, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team was defeated by SAA foe Sewanee on Friday after their late comeback effort came up just short.
How it happened
- BSC's Robert Marquet started the scoring in the contest, but Sewanee answered back with a goal in less than a minute.
- The first quarter was tight with the Panthers outshooting the Tigers 11-10, but Sewanee grabbed a 3-2 lead at the end of the period.
- The second quarter was all Sewanee as they outshot BSC 16-1 and won the period 3-0. This gave them a 6-2 lead going into halftime.
- Micah Finotti scored the first of his three goals on the night to end BSC's goal drought, but Sewanee scored with 57 second left in the third to keep their lead at four.
- After an early fourth quarter goal from the Tigers, the Panthers battled back with four straight goals to cut the deficit to one with less than a minute to go.
- Despite a dominating final period, the Panthers couldn't quite tie the game and fell to Sewanee 8-7 on the night.
