ROME, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern baseball team earned their 20th victory of the season after a doubleheader sweep over the Berry Vikings on Saturday, Mar. 18. The Panthers extended their winning streak to 18 games while outscoring Berry 17-7 over the two games.
Game one
A tightly contested ballgame turned in the Panthers favor quickly in the sixth inning. Both teams were held scoreless through the first five frames before BSC exploded for seven runs in the sixth. The first three Panther batters of the inning reached base safely. After Berry recorded an out the Panthers would see the next five hitters reach base safely and score five runs in the process. A pitching change didn't change much for Berry as BSC scratched two more across to take a 7-0 lead. Berry responded in the bottom of the sixth with three runs before Birmingham-Southern got two runs back in the seventh. The final two innings the Panthers would not allow a Berry run to score as BSC won the game 9-3.
Game two
The Panthers earned their 20th victory after winning game two 8-4. BSC got out to an early lead scoring four runs in the first two innings of play. A sac fly by

Andrew Dutton double scored two and a
Cam McNearney groundout scored another to put the Panthers up 4-0. Berry got two runs back scoring one in the bottom of the second and one in the third to cut into the lead. BSC proceeded to score four more runs over the course of the fourth and fifth innings as they took advantage of two Viking errors in the inning. Berry tried to cut back into the lead scoring two in the sixth but were unable to inch closer as the Panthers capped off the seven inning game winning 8-4.
