ROME, Ga. - A game plagued with errors by both teams ultimately landed in Berry's favor as they defeated the Panthers 8-4 on Sunday, Mar. 19. The loss marks the Panthers second of the season and their first since Feb. 12 and ending their 18-game winning streak.
Berry jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first three innings, but in the top of the fourth
Jackson Webster singled in a run to cut into the Viking lead. Unfortunately Berry would plate two of their own in the bottom half of the inning to extend their lead to 6-1. After a scoreless fifth Webster drove in another run with an RBI double and the Panthers plated another run after. The Panthers would scrape across one more run in the seventh but it would not be enough as the Panthers dropped their first game in over a month 8-4.
Luke Jones started on the bump for the Panther going 2.2 innings, allowing two hits and striking out one.
Davis Williams came in to relive Jones and pitched 4.1 innings, striking out two hitters, and allowing three earned runs. The Panther pitching staff struck out a season low four hitters in the loss.
