BSC CLINCHES SEASON SERIES WITH WIN OVER LAGRANGE

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern baseball team earned a season series win over the LaGrange Panthers winning the second game in a season-long series. BSC won by the narrowest of margins defeating LaGrange 6-5 on Wednesday night. 

The Panthers improved to 22-2 and have won 20 of their past 21 games while LaGrange fell to 14-6 overall. 

The Panthers struck first with a two-run homerun by Noah Best to open up the scoring. LaGrange got one run back in the bottom of the first to make it a 2-1 ball game. A scoreless top of the second and third gave LaGrange some momentum and took the lead in the bottom of the third innings scoring two runs and taking a 3-2 lead. Birmingham-Southern went on to win the middle three frames outscoring LaGrange 4-0 over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. 

LaGrange fought back in the eighth narrowing their deficit to one run, but they could not inch any closer as the Panthers held on to defeat 10th-ranked LaGrange 6-5.

Luke Jones picked up his second win of the season in relief going 2.2 innings, allowing one hit and striking out three. Davis Williams three two shutout innings after relieving Jones. Over his two innings Williams struckout two while allowing just two hits. Connor Adams picked up his fifth save of the season (ranks top ten nationally in category) throwing two innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out two.

The Panthers will play host to Rhodes on Saturday, Mar. 25 and Sunday, Mar. 26. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Striplin Field.
