BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern pitching staff held Rhodes to one run over 14 innings on Saturday, Mar. 25. Using just three pitchers all day BSC won both games of the double header impvoing on their Division III leading 22 wins.
Game one
A game in which the Panthers run-ruled the Lynx on a walk off single by
Grant Morgan the Panther offense took what was given to them with a strong wind blowing in from centerfield. Two of their 10 hits went for extra-bases. Over the course of the second through fifth innings BSC outscored Rhodes 9-0.
Wesley Diamantis got the scoring started with a two-run home run in the second. BSC added three runs in the third, a run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth. BSC caped off the game with one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Josh Leerssen did not factor in a decision but threw a strong 4.1 innings striking out six and not allowing any runs.
Hansen McCown improved to 4-0 on the season pitching the final 2.2 innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.
Game two
A much closer game still saw the Panthers victorious in a 5-1 ball game.
Joey White pitched a 7.0 inning complete game, one-hitter. White struck out five while allowing just one run.
Noah Best gave the Panthers an early lead with an RBI-single to left field in the first inning.
Cam McNearney drove in two with a single to center field in the second giving the Panthers a 3-0 lead.
Rhodes got their first run of the day in the third inning but that's all they would get.
Jack Fleming and Best drove in one more run each as the Panthers went on to win 5-1
