BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Panther women's lacrosse team fell in a tightly contested matchup against conference foe, Sewanee. After being down by as much as eight goals BSC came back and cut the lead to two with just under five minutes to play. Birmingham-Southern was unable to get any closer.

How it happened

• Sewanee opened the scoring with two goals in less than two minutes of the game before BSC quickly answered with two of their own.
• Sewanee then scored three unanswered goals before BSC fired back with two making the score 5-4.
• After the short run from the Panthers, Sewanee closed out the first quarter with a 7-4 lead. 
• Sewanee stretched their lead in the second quarter outscoring BSC 8-4 and going into halftime with a 15-8 lead.
• The Panthers got off to a hot start in the third quarter with three unanswered goals before the Tigers replied with three goals themselves. 
• BSC and Sewanee went on to tie the third quarter 4-4 which gave the Tigers a 19-12 lead heading into the fourth.
• Down seven, the Panthers went on a five-goal run to start the fourth quarter and make the score 19-17 with 4:06 left to play.
• Sewanee's Emma Burns then scored two late goals to end the scare from BSC.
• BSC ultimately came up just short as the SAA contest ended with a 21-17 Sewanee win.
