OXFORD, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's baseball team suffered defeat on Tuesday night against the LaGrange Panthers in Oxford, Alabama. The LaGrange hot bats ultimately carried them to victory with BSC giving up their highest run total of the season.
The first inning was scoreless, and in the top of the second inning, LaGrange opened the scoring on an error to take a 1-0 lead. In the top of the third, an RBI single stretched the LaGrange lead to three. However,
Ian Hancock cut the deficit to one on a two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, LaGrange added another run to take a 4-2 lead. After a scoreless bottom of the fifth for the Panthers, LaGrange exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth to take a huge 10-2 lead.
Jack Fleming cut into the deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI, but the lead for LaGrange remained large at 10-3.
In the top of the seventh inning, LaGrange's hot hitting continued. They added on five more runs to stretch the lead to 15-3. This put the game out of reach for BSC, and LaGrange took the win on the night 15-3 after seven innings.
