PANTHERS LOSE OPENER ON THE ROAD AT HENDRIX

CONWAY, Ark. - The Birmingham-Southern baseball team dropped the first of a three-game series against Hendrix on Friday night. The Panthers could not quite get going as they only had two hits on the night.

The first inning was scoreless and in the top of the second inning, the Panthers opened the scoring on an Eli Steadman RBI. At the conclusion of the second inning, BSC had a 1-0 lead.

The Panthers did not add another run in the top of the third, and in the bottom of the inning, the Warriors got hot. An RBI double saw Hendrix take a 2-1 lead and then a fielder's choice, a single, and a sac fly gave the Warriors a 5-1 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Hendrix added two more insurance runs and took a commanding 7-1 lead on a single. BSC then cut into the deficit when Luke DePiero scored on a passed ball in the top of the fifth inning. However, the Panthers could not get the bats going. The game remained scoreless in the final three innings, and the Warriors earned a 7-2 victory in game one of the series.
