Georgetown, TX. – The Birmingham-Southern football team dropped a 43-20 contest against Southwestern College.
The Panthers started off hot with an 82 yard rush from
Matt McClary that resulted in a touchdown. McClary would finish the day 321 total yards of offense.
Birmingham-Southern could not get much going on the ground as the Southwestern defense held the Panthers to 138 rushing yards.
Southwestern jumped out to a 21-6 lead after the
Matt McClary rushing touchdown. They had three rushers with double digits touches, while Devan Phillips gained 141 yards on his 26 touches.
Southern' would add a touchdown in the 2nd quarter from a 82 yard pass to
Mitch Thompson. Thompson ended the day with 2 receptions for 100 yards.
Southwestern continued their scoring day in the second half with 17 more points added. The Panthers would score one final time late in the 4th quarter from a 64 yard pass from McClary to
Baylor Borden.
The final score ended at 43-20 Southwestern.
