MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team lost their first game since Dec. 18th at the hands of Berry College.

The Panthers floated out to a 6-0 lead with three different scorers, and Brandon Garrido grabbing four of the first eight points. That fast start continued for the Panthers, as a fast break lay in put BSC up 11-2. Just under the 10 minute mark the Vikings would make a run to take their first lead of the game at 21-20. That run was helped along by two three-point shots by Morgan and Winegarden. This game was really tight the last 10 minutes of the first half with seven lead changes during that time. Berry led by as many as five while BSC got up to a nine point lead. Berry took a 36-33 lead into the intermission.

The first Bucket of the second half was a three-point ball by Drew Winegarden. Winegarden would finish 3-5 from three with 13 points. 22 turnovers plagued the Birmingham-Southern offense and allowed the Vikings to get 23 points off of those turnovers. BSC took their first lead of the second half after a Brandan Garrido jumper. The jumper also gave Garrido his first points of the half at the 8:52 mark, and that marked seven straight points for the senior. At the 3:29 mark Birmingham-Southern was down by just one with a lot of momentum. BSC would only make one more shot the rest of the game, as Berry went on a 12-2 game closing run. The Vikings lead got to as many as 11 with two free-throws by Jacob Morgan. Jay Gillispie recorded his 5th double-double in a row and his 16th of the season.
