3/1/2024 5:50:00 PM

SAN ANTONIO, Tx. – On the first day of the NCAA Division III Regional Diving Meet, junior Avery Balch took home the title in the 3m diving event. His first-place finish automatically qualifies him for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Greensboro.

Balch carried his momentum over to the regional meet after winning the 3m diving event at the SAA Championship in February. His score of 511.55 put him at the top of the pedestal.

Justin Toth also had an excellent day in the 3m dive. Similar to the SAA meet, Toth finished second behind his teammate with a score of 490.30 setting him up for an opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships tomorrow.

Garrett George was the third BSC diver in the top five with a fifth-place finish. He recorded a diving score of 464.90 to stay in the hunt for the national championship meet.

Sam Tennell rounded off the scores for the Panthers with a 13th place finish and a score of 411.10. Every Panther diver finished inside the top half of all divers for what proved to be an excellent day for the program.

The four standouts will compete in the 1 meter dive tomorrow, Mar. 2 in San Antonio at 12:00 p.m.
