Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

BSC'S WIN STREAK ENDS AT SIX IN HICKORY, N.C.

HICKORY, N.C. - The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday after falling to Skidmore, 16-12.

How it happened
Fast starts have been a theme in the historic start to the season for the Panthers, but it was the Thoroughbreds that fired in the goals early. They scored three straight goals to start the game, putting BSC in their biggest deficit of the season. Kyle Winter ended the Skidmore run with a goal, but the Thoroughbreds responded at the end of the first quarter to preserve the three-goal lead.

BSC got the crucial first goal of the second period through Josh Tamarkin, but once again, Skidmore answered with a goal a little over a minute later. Still down three, Cameron Herd and Raymond Fracchia put together back-to-back goals to shrink the margin to one with 5:50 left in the opening half. However, the Panthers could not tie the game back up, and Skidmore finished two unanswered goals in the final three minutes to take a 7-4 lead at the break.

Similar to the first half, the Thoroughbreds got off to a quick start out of the locker rooms. Two straight goals gave the team from New York their largest lead of the afternoon, 9-4. The remainder of the quarter was extremely tight with three goals from both sides, giving Skidmore a 12-7 lead heading into the fourth.

The Panthers needed to cut into the lead quickly, but the Thoroughbreds held their lead. BSC cut the deficit to four with 7:32 remaining, but Skidmore then added the game's the next two goals to go up by six. BSC scored the final two goals, but Skidmore held on for a 16-12 win in North Carolina.
