BSC Softball traveled to Covenant College on Lookout Mountain for another midweek match up against the Scotts. The two teams met previously this season at home where the Panthers won both games via run rule.
Game #1: Covenant earned the first run on the scoreboard from a lead off walk and back-to-back singles to take a quick 1-0 lead.
The Panthers responded in the third,
Olivia Trout had a lead-off walk and stole second to put herself in scoring position.
Emma Jolley picked up the first Panther RBI of the day with a single through the left side, tying the game at 1-1. BSC struck again in the fourth,
Leah Wood and
Maile White had back-to-back two out doubles to take a 2-1 lead.
Katie Hart got things started in the fifth with a double to centerfield and
Emma Jolley earned her second RBI of the day with a single up the middle to score Hart. Jolley reached second on the Covenant throw to the plate, putting a runner in scoring position for Bella Furgason. Furgason delivered an RBI single to score
Emma Jolley and take a 4-1 lead through five frames.
In the top of the final inning, BSC strung together 4 hits to score 5 insurance runs.
Mollie Furr led things off with a double down the left field line followed by
Emma Jolley's 3rd RBI single of the day.
Morgan McGuire got in on the action with a single to right field and Bella Furgason reached on an error to score Jolley. With McGuire and Furgason on base,
Leah Wood smashed a 3-run-homerun over the centerfield wall to give BSC a 9-1 lead.
Game 1 starter
MC Campbell was dominant in the circle after the first, shutting out the Scotts for six straight innings. Campbell picked up three strikeouts and allowed just one extra base hit over her seven innings of work to secure a complete game win.
Game #2: BSC kept the bats hot going into the second game.
Katie Hart led off the game with a hit by pitch and both
Morgan McGuire and Bella Furgason earned walks to load up the bases for
Natalie Snow. Snow delivered a single up the middle to score Hart and McGuire and put up an early 2-0 lead.
The scoreboard was quiet for both squads until the fourth inning where Covenant found some success on the bases. A lead-off single and Panther error put two Scotts aboard, followed by an RBI single to make the game 2-1. BSC added an insurance run in the top of the fifth, all with two outs.

Leah Wood picked up her fifth RBI and second of the day with a gap shot to left center, giving BSC a 3-1 lead.
Olivia Trout delivered a seamless game from the circle for BSC. The sophomore allowed just four hits through her complete game victory, letting up no free passes with zero walks and zero hit by pitch.
