PANTHERS DEFEATED BY #4 ETBU ON THE ROAD

MARSHALL, Tx. - The Birmingham-Southern softball team continued their run of top 10 opponents in a doubleheader with #4 ETBU on Thursday.

Game 1
Both teams failed to score through the first two innings highlighted by BSC's Olivia Trout getting a strikeout with bases loaded and two outs. The Panthers still did not manage a hit in the top of the third, and ETBU scored the first run of the game on an RBI double in the bottom of the inning. However, Trout got out of a jam with only one run allowed in the third.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers added their second and third runs on an error and RBI single respectively. Fantastic pitching from ETBU's Benavides kept the Panthers hitless through six.

In the top of the seventh with two outs, Natalie Snow broke up the no-hit bid with a single. However, ETBU closed the game out with a 3-0 win in game one.

Game 2
In the top of the first in game two, great base running by the Tigers scored two runs on back-to-back steals. ETBU then added their third and fourth runs in the bottom of the third. With two outs, the Tigers then manged a hit through the left side to bring two more runners across the plate.

The Panthers were still not out of the third inning and faced bases loaded with two outs. ETBU's Cummings then hit a grand slam to give the Tigers a double-digit lead after three.

MC Campbell scored BSC's first and only run in the succeeding inning, but ETBU hit another homer in the bottom of the fourth to take a 12-1 lead.

The Tigers went on to finish the game in five innings for a doubleheader sweep on the day.
