45 HITS AND SIX HOMERS PROPEL BSC OVER CENTRE

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Birmingham-Southern baseball team brought the bats on the road in the team's SAA series win over Centre. After falling in extras in game one, the Panthers bounced back with a doubleheader win on Saturday.

Game 1
Jackson Webster brought the fireworks early with a two-run opposite field shot to give BSC a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. After a scoreless first inning for Centre, the Panthers continued to tack on runs in the succeeding inning.

With the bases loaded and one out, Ty Truett scored on a wild pitch to make the score 3-0. With Andrew Dutton still at bat, the second baseman doubled down the left field line to give BSC a huge 5-0 lead early. The Panthers then added a sixth run in the third inning after Ian Hancock reached home on a Charlie Banks sac fly.

In the bottom of the third, Centre scored their first two runs of the game on two RBI singles to cut the deficit to four. They then took a big stride in the next inning after a three-run homer cut the deficit to one.

With momentum on the side of the home team, Jackson Webster led off the fifth inning with a homerun to center field for his fifth bomb in his last four games. Forrest Lietz then scored on an error in the inning to push the lead back up to three, 8-5. Centre failed to score in the bottom of the fifth, but scored on an error in the sixth to make the score 8-6.

In the seventh, Ty Truett and Shane Nelson brought home Ian Hancock and Charlie Banks respectively to give the Panthers double-digit runs at a score of 10-6. However, the four-run lead did not last long as Centre's second homer of the game halved the deficit in the seventh inning.

The Colonels went on to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI double and RBI bunt single. Both teams failed to score in the ninth which meant extras in Danville.

BSC couldn't bring a runner across the plate in the top of the tenth, and Centre scored on an error with the bases loaded to take an 11-10 win in game one.

Game 2
The Panthers continued their hot hitting after double-digit hits in game one. In the top of the first, Ian Hancock doubled down the left field line to bring home Andrew Dutton. The Panthers led 1--0 after the top of the inning, but Centre's Prather homered to tie the game in the bottom of the first.

Identical to the first inning, Ian Hancock doubled to bring Andrew Dutton across the plate again in the third. Later in the inning, Forrest Lietz knocked in Hancock on an RBI single to stretch the lead to 3-1.

Jackson Webster built off of his two homerun game in game one with an RBI single in the fourth. In the next at bat, Ian Hancock continued his fantastic start with a three-run blast to center field, giving BSC a 7-1 lead after four innings.

The flood continued from the top of the order in the fifth with Andrew Dutton hitting an RBI double and Jackson Webster hitting another RBI single to take complete control at 9-1. Freshman Parker Ladd then got in on the action in the succeeding inning with a solo shot to give BSC double-digit runs with the score being 10-1.

To lead off the top of the seventh, Andrew Dutton singled to left field to put him at a perfect five for five on the day. He was not brought home in the inning but reached home in the eighth after Jackson Webster's third RBI single of the game.

The Colonels scored three consolation runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the Panthers went on to win game two 13-4.

Game 3
After a perfect game from the plate in game two, Andrew Dutton smashed a two-run homer to kick-start game three. His shot to right field gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

In the next inning, Eli Steadman reached base again this time courtesy of an RBI single to bring home Parker Ladd and Ty Truett. BSC looked to be in control up 4-0, but an RBI double and an inside the park homerun trimmed the lead to only one. The Colonels later tied the game at four in the third inning on an RBI double.

In the succeeding inning, Ian Hancock continued his great hitting with his second three run homer of the day. The huge hit put the Panthers up 7-4 after four innings played.

The Panthers poured on more runs in the top of the sixth to stretch their lead to seven. Jackson Webster tacked on another RBI single to bring home two baserunners, followed by Forrest Lietz and Ty Truett getting RBI singles of their own.

Centre scored their fifth run in the bottom of the seventh, but Connor Adams held off the Colonels to give BSC a massive conference series win in Danville, 11-5.
