PANTHERS GET BACK ON TRACK WITH WIN AT HENDRIX

CONWAY, Ark. - The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team picked up their first SAA win of the year on Saturday with a 14-8 triumph over Hendrix.

How it happened
Raymond Fracchia scored the game's first goal after less than five minutes of play to give the Panthers an early lead. The game remained scoreless for the next six minutes until Hendrix got on the board with 4:59 remaining in the opening quarter. Both teams traded goals over the next three minutes to make a 2-2 game after 15 minutes.

The second period fell into the hands of the visitors. BSC went on a huge 4-0 run started and ended by Micah Finotti to take complete control of the SAA contest. Hendrix scored just before the end of the half to make the deficit three, but BSC went into the break up 6-3. The Panther defense forced seven turnovers by the Warriors in the quarter.

Similar to the first quarter, both teams traded goals in the third period. Hendrix scored the first goal of the half, but BSC replied with a Patton Hunter goal. The Warriors then scored two more goals with a Kyle Winter goal in between. The Panthers went into the final 15 minutes up 8-6, but it was all to play for in the fourth.

On the road in a tight game, 'Southern answered the call in the fourth. Five goals from the panther offense put the visitors in the driver's seat with 6:28 remaining. Kyle Winter led the game-clinching run with two more goals after his first in the third quarter. Hendrix finally ended the BSC momentum with 3:59 remaining, but a goal from each team in the final remaining time gave BSC a huge 14-8 victory on the day.

  • Cameron Herd led the team in points with four (two goals and two assists).
  • Cade Robinson caused two turnovers and collected two ground balls.
  • Nathan Pepe recorded 15 saves for the sixth time this season.
