BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The #3 seeded Birmingham-Southern baseball team hosted #6 Rhodes for the first round of the SAA Baseball Tournament but did not advance to the final pod weekend after two heartbreaking games.
Game 1
Jackson Webster got the series started with his conference-leading 11th homer of the season on an opposite field shot in the bottom of the first inning.

In the seventh, the Panthers had an inning to forget with 10 runs given up on only five hits. Six of the 10 runs scored by Rhodes came without putting the ball in play.

Game 2
The first two innings were scoreless for both teams until
Ian Hancock broke the deadlock on an RBI single to bring home
Andrew Dutton.
Jakob Zito then stepped up with a huge two-run single through the left side to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead.
Drake LaRoche continued to deal on the mound for BSC with six shutout innings. In the seventh, Rhodes got on the board with a single to cut the deficit to two. They then made it a 3-2 game in the top of the eighth with bases still loaded and one out.
Jacob Fields came in relief for the Panthers and struck out two batters to get out of the jam and put the team three outs away from forcing a game three.
However, things did not go as planned as Rhodes came up clutch in the ninth on an RBI single to take their first lead of the game, 4-3. BSC did not have the ball bounce their way in the bottom of the inning as Rhodes pulled off the upset in the first round series.
