Millsaps takes 58-7 win over Birmingham-Southern

JACKSON, Miss. –Millsaps College had 444 yards of offense and forced five turnovers en route to a 58-7 win over Birmingham-Southern College (3-7). here Saturday at Harper Davis Field.

Juan Joseph tossed three first half touchdowns and Nick Namias and Schuyler Huff scored rushing touchdowns to pace Millsaps.  Joseph first pass was a four-yard strike to Eric McCarty followed by an eight-yard pass to Tye Manist and a 47 yard pass to Michael Galates

Namias scored the Majors second touchdown of the afternoon. Ray Kline had 48-yard interception return and a Sam Herman kicked a 20-yard field goal as part of the first half scoring.

The Majors held a 45-0 lead late in the first half and kept first team offense in the game.  MC  went for it on fourth and two from the BSC-5, scoring on a Kenneth Metzger five-yard run with :57 left in the second quarter to take a 52-0 lead at halftime. Metzger would add a two-yard run in the third quarter to put the Majors up 58-0.

Birmingham-Southern avoided a shutout at the 3:31 mark of the fourth quarter on a James Hall three-yard run for the final score of the contest.

The Panthers finished the day up with 204 yards of offense –126 passing and 78 rushing. Walter Arrington had five catches for 35 yards and Tay Walker had four receptions. James Hall had eight carries for 20 yards and a touchdown.
