Women's Soccer falls to No. 2 Emory on the road, 6-0

ATLANTA—No. 2 Emory University extended its regular-season win streak to 31 games with a 6-0 shutout of the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team Friday evening at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

BSC drops to 3-3-1, while Emory moves to 5-0-2.

The Eagles scored three times in each half, with Charlotte Butker and Lee Bachouros notching two goals apiece, and Katy Kruse and Merrill Bachouros scoring once each. Butker also had two assists on the evening.

It was the 100th career win for Emory head coach Sue Patberg, who is in her eighth season with the Eagles.

Junior keeper Richelle Byrd took the loss, giving up five goals with seven saves in just under 57 minutes. Freshman Katie Williams came in for the remainder of the game and gave up one goal with one save.

Emory's defense held the Panthers to just two shots during the game, neither of which was on goal. The Eagles managed 31 shots of their own, including 14 on goal, during the contest.

The Panthers are on the road again this Tuesday, Sept. 25, traveling to Lookout Mountain, Ga., to face Covenant College at 7 p.m. Eastern.
