Box Score ROME, Ga.—After leading 1-0, the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team gave up two second-half goals to fall to Berry, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association Championship, Saturday afternoon on Ford Field.
The Panthers, who were the fourth seed, end their season at 8-9, while the fourth-seeded Vikings move to 10-5-1 and advance to next weekend's semifinals, hosted by the highest remaining seed.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BSC got on the board in the 22nd minute when senior Sammy Manzo crossed the ball to senior Avery Newcomb, who scored her fourth goal of the year.
- The 1-0 lead held through the rest of the first half and until the 49th minute, when Megan Radosta tied things up.
- The Vikings pulled ahead in the 66th minute on a goal by Lynnsey Danford, her ninth of the year, off an assist from Emily Nixon, and held the 2-1 lead for the remainder.
NOTABLE
- Berry out-shot BSC 15-7, 8-5 on-goal; junior Nicole Newton and freshman Felicity Barnett led with two shots apiece.
