ATLANTA, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team extended its win streak to five on Friday, defeating Susquehanna and Johns Hopkins at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.

BSC now stands at 5-1 on the season, their only loss in the season opener to Emory, who was ranked second in the nation at the time and is now the top-ranked team in the country.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS. SUSQUEHANNA

• BSC won by the scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-19.
• Trailing 11-10 in the first set, the Panthers used a 10-2 run to pull ahead 20-13 before winning by five.
• Both teams used several small runs to go back and forth in the second set, and Susquehanna led 23-18 before the Panthers scored seven straight points to win 25-23.
• The third set also consisted of both teams putting together scoring runs, including a run by BSC to pull up 18-11, after which they would never trail before winning 25-19.

STAT LEADERS VS. SUSQUEHANNA

• Freshman Jeneva Salter led with eight kills; senior Mollie Peavy and junior Caroline Hyde added seven apiece, with Hyde hitting .556.
• Senior setter Katie McCormack dished out 30 assists.
• Freshman Marjorie Ward led with 14 digs, followed closely by senior Lauren Bedford with 13.
• Peavy and junior Laura Van Peursem picked up four blocks each.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS. JOHNS HOPKINS

• The Panthers won 23-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 15-6
• Neither team led by more than four in the first set, with the lead changing hands several times. BSC led 21-18 late, but the Blue Jays used a 7-2 run to win 25-23.
• The Panthers bounced back in the second set, coming out on the winning end of another close one, 25-23.
• The teams split the next two sets to send the match to five, with BSC dominating JHU in the deciding set, 15-6.

STAT LEADERS VS. JOHNS HOPKINS

• Salter led again with 12 kills.
• McCormack led with 32 assists and posted her first double-double of the year with 13 digs as well.
• Bedford and Ward led with 15 digs apiece.
