Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—After scoring two quick goals in the first four minutes, the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team cruised to a 7-0 victory against Belhaven University, Saturday afternoon on Preston Goldfarb Field at Berylson Park.
BSC moves to 4-1, while the Blazers fell to 0-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Panthers wasted no time getting on the board, with senior Sammy Manzo collecting a through ball down the middle from senior Avery Newcomb and punching the ball into the net in the fourth minute.
- Less than 30 seconds later, freshman Taylor Andrews crossed the ball from the left side of the box into the right corner of the goal off another assist from Newcomb.
- Nine minutes into the second half, Newcomb scored to put BSC up 3-0 courtesy of a Manzo assist, and she scored again in the 73rd minute to increase the lead to 4-0.
- Junior Ali Sadler scored two minutes later, and senior Jessie Sperry found the net less than a minute after that, assisted by Sadler.
- Sadler wrapped up the scoring in the 80th minute off an assist from freshman Julia Giggie.
FACTS OF THE GAME
- BSC out-shot Belhaven 27-6 (12-2 on-goal), led by freshman Felicity Barnett with five shots.
- Senior Katie Williams started in goal and played the entire first half, making one save.
- Junior Ansley Tomlin played the second half and also recorded one save.
- The Panther offense was aggressive, being called offside 11 times to Belhaven's one.
- Blazers goalkeepers Erika Smith and Alexis Molero combined for five saves.

- "Scoring two goals so early in the game really set the tone for us," Head Coach Sean McBride said. "Belhaven is a much better team than the box score shows. This was a great win for us."
