Box Score MARYVILLE, Tenn.—Courtesy of four second-half goals, the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team picked up a 4-1 victory over Maryville College, Sunday morning in Maryville, Tenn.
The Panthers moved to 2-1, while the Scots also dropped to 2-1 on the season. BSC now leads the series against Maryville 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maryville's lone goal of the game was early, with Allyson Hale scoring in the 12th minute.
- The game was tied 1-1 in the 55th minute when the Scots scored an own goal.
- Barely two minutes after the own goal, senior Jessie Sperry scored what would be the game-winner with her third goal of the season.
- Senior Sarah Lombardi posted her first goal of the season with a score in the 68th minute off an assist from freshman McKenna Boyd.
- Freshman Taylor Andrews recorded her first collegiate goal in the 71st minute to stretch the lead to 4-1.
STAT LEADERS
- Sperry led with three of BSC's 13 shots, two of those on-goal.
- Senior goalkeeper Katie Williams played all 90 minutes in goal and made six saves.
- Maryville out-shot the Panthers 15-13, but BSC led 8-7 in shots-on-goal.
