Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team held off Berry College Saturday afternoon in Bill Battle Coliseum to improve to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Panthers won 3-1 as Berry dropped to 12-5, 5-2 SAA with the loss.
Marjorie Ward (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park HS) and Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) finished with double-doubles on the day. Erwin earned with a match-high 14 kills and picked up 10 digs. Ward had 10 kills and 18 assists.
On the back line, Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) earned a match-high 28 digs and Rachel Lee (Montgomery, Ala./The Montgomery Academy) finished with a match-high 28 assists.
Laura Van Peursem (Huntsville, Ala./The Randolph School) also finished with double-digit kills at 11.
The Panthers continue their home stand tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 2 in a showdown with SAA rival Oglethorpe University at 1 p.m.
