ROME, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team battled through two overtimes at Berry College Saturday night to force penalty kicks in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Southern Athletic Association Tournament.  BSC would fall 7-6 in the PK's.  The Panthers close the year at 7-11 overall.

Libby Groark (Huntsville, Ala./Saint John Paul II Catholic HS) finished with a match and career-high 17 saves.  The Panther defense fended off 37 shots during regulation. 

Berry (9-5-2) opened the PK's with a shot that went high over the net.  Jenny Kastner (Hamilton, Ala./Hamilton HS) hit the post on her attempt to keep the score even.

The teams then swapped goals. Tessa Craft (Grayson, Ga./Grayson HS) made hers into the left netting. Rachel Motamed (Birmingham, Ala./Indian Springs HS) hit hers into the left side and Nicole Newton (Baton Rouge, La./Episcopal HS) made hers into the upper right corner.  Taylor Andrews (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County HS) rounded out the first five shooters for each team by tying it up at four with a shot sent straight away top middle.

McKenna Boyd (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County HS) made her shot into the left side netting next.  After Megan Moser (Mandeville, La./St. Scholastica Catholic HS) made hers into the right side of the net, Joanna Logan hit hers into the upper left corner, giving Berry the 7-6 lead.

Felicity Barnett (Birmingham, Ala./Hope Christian School) stepped up for BSC next, but her shot missed high.  Berry advances to the semifinals of the tournament with the win.

BSC went 3-4 in conference play this season.

The Panthers were led offensively on the year by Andrews.  She finished with team-highs of seven goals, five assists, and 19 points.  She also had a team-high two game winning goals.

Groark became the primary keeper midseason.  She finished with team-highs of 47 saves and an .870 save percentage.  Groark also owns three of the teams six shutouts with a 2-2-1 record.
