Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College football team was unable to hand Hendrix College its first loss of the season as the Panthers fell 47-17 at home Saturday afternoon in a Southern Athletic Association game. BSC (1-5, 1-3 SAA) won the time of possession battle on the day.
Kerrigan Pennington (Wagerville, Ala./Washington County HS) led the team in passing and rushing yards.
Ryder Andrews (Homewood, Ala./Homewood HS) hit a 34-yard field goal to put the Panthers on the board in the second quarter. They would go into the break down 27-3.
BSC came into the second half strong.
They pushed 59-yards down field in their first possession. Pennington found Jonathan Scaringe (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles HS) on a three yard pass for the Panthers first touchdown of the game with 6:34 on the clock in the third.
Hendrix (5-0, 3-0 SAA) would put two more touchdowns on the board before BSC responded.
Damian Mitchell (Maplesville, Ala./Maplesville HS) took a pass from Pennington 22 yards for his first touchdown of the year.
Matthew Byers (Pelham, Ala./John Carroll Catholic HS) led the defense with nine tackles, all solo.
Birmingham-Southern hits the road again for its next game. They travel to take on Millsaps Saturday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
