BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team opened the 2016 season with a 9-0 shutout of Spring Hill College on Saturday at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex.

Doubles

• Senior Sara Cohen and sophomore Carlee Petro won a close one at one doubles, 9-7.
• The freshman duo of McKenzie Courtney and Isabella Wisener was victorious at two doubles, 8-0.
• Junior Mary Evelyn Carroll and freshman Mary Madison Taylor won in the three spot, 8-3.

Singles

• Petro and Cohen also won at one and two singles, respectively, followed by Wisener winning at three.
• Courtney, Taylor, and sophomore Virginia Hammond wrapped up singles play with wins at four, five, and six.
• All six singles matches were won in two sets.
