Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—After scoring the go-ahead run in the sixth, the No. 5 Birmingham-Southern baseball team held on to its one-run lead to win, 6-5, over Huntingdon Tuesday evening at Striplin Field.
The Panthers moved to 12-2 and have won five straight games, while the Hawks fell to 10-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Huntingdon held a 2-1 lead after the first inning, but the Panthers pulled ahead in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs on an RBI single by senior Taylor McCracken.
- BSC added two more in the fourth to pull ahead 5-2, thanks to a two-RBI single by junior David Scott.
- The Hawks answered in the top of the sixth, tying things up, but the Panthers quickly took back the lead in the bottom half of the frame, scoring a single run on a McCracken sac-fly.
- Huntingdon threatened to score in the top of the seventh, with a runner being throw out at home after a deep double to right-center.
- The Hawks got runners to second in both the eighth and ninth innings as well, with the game ending on a double play.
NOTABLE
- McCracken went 2-3 at the plate with three RBI to lead BSC offensively.
- Sophomore Ross James took the win on the mound, throwing the fifth and sixth innings, and senior Wilson Jamison came in for the final one-and-one-third inning and got the save.
