Women's Tennis advances to SAA semifinals with 7-2 win over Rhodes

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team defeated Rhodes, 7-2, in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association Championship Friday morning at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The second-seeded Panthers moved to 14-4, while the seventh-seeded Lynx fell to 6-14.

BSC was victorious at all three doubles spots. Senior Sara Cohen and sophomore Carlee Petro moved to 13-3 on the year, while freshmen McKenzie Courtney and Isabella Wisener moved to 13-4 and sophomore Mary Evelyn Carroll and Mary Madison Taylor moved to 11-5.

In singles, Petro won at the top spot to move to 15-3 on the year, and Courtney, Carroll, and Taylor won at four, five, and six singles. Courtney moved to 12-3, Carroll to 7-8, and Taylor to 9-5.

The Panthers will face sixth-seeded Centre, who upset third-seeded Millsaps this morning, tomorrow at 9 a.m. in the semifinal round.
