MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team fell to No. 12 Sewanee on Sunday morning, 5-0, in the finals of the Southern Athletic Association Championship at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The second-seeded Panthers end their season at 15-5, while the top-seeded and 12th-ranked Tigers move to 21-5. Sewanee has now won four straight SAA titles.
BSC dropped three doubles matches to open the match, 8-3, 8-3, 8-4. The duo of senior Sara Cohen and sophomore Carlee Petro end the season at 14-4, while freshmen McKenzie Courtney and Isabella Wisener fell to 14-5, and junior Mary Evelyn Carroll and freshman Mary Madison Taylor fell to 12-6.
In singles, No. 2 and No. 5 finished first to clinch the match for the Tigers. Petro led the Panthers this season, going 15-3 at No. 1 singles, followed by Courtney at 13-3.
Petro and Wisener were both named to the SAA All-Tournament Team.
